Massive black hole, bigger & brighter than a whole galaxy
Astronomers from the Australian National University (ANU) have found the fastest growing black hole in the universe, it is a super massive –black hole in our universe, around 12 billion light years away, expected to be at least the size of 20 billion of our sun. They are calling it a ‘monster with an appetite’ because its gravity can consume the mass equivalent of our sun every two days. It is also radiating matter, transforming energies back into space on a galactic scale. The black hole is growing so rapidly that it is shining thousands of times brighter than an entire galaxy as said by DR. Christian Wolf of ANU Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics. If we have this massive black hole at the center of Milky Way galaxy.
This is what Dr. Wolf quoted,-“This black hole is growing so rapidly that it’s shining thousands of times more brightly than an entire galaxy, due to all of the gases it sucks in daily that causes lots of Friction and heat. If we had this monster sitting in the center of our Milky Way galaxy, it would appear 10 times brighter than a full moon. It would appear as an incredibly bright pin-point star in the sky.”
It is also known as Quasar, the enormous energy released out of a newly discovered super massive black hole is mainly ultraviolet wavelengths, but it also contains a noteworthy outpouring of X-rays. It is found to be the brightest quasar that can be seen in the visual or ultraviolet range of spectrum.
If this monstrous black hole was at the centre of of our milky way galaxy, it would make life impossible on the earth because of the intense and immense amount of x-rays released out of it .
Using the Sky Mapper telescope at ANU’s fabled Siding Observatory, Wolf and his team founded the uncommon and dramatic celestial body, releasing their findings in a paper titled: Discovery of the most ultra-luminous QSO using Gaia Skymapper and WISE.
They also determine its distance from the earth by using the data from the European Space Agency’s Gaia satellite. From their observations, they found that it took more than 12 million years for the light from this bag black hole to reach earth.
From the research these large rapidly- growing black holes are exceedingly rare. The European Space Agency’s Gaia Satellites is tracing small motions of celestial objects, which further helps in finding the black hole.
Wolf Said that they don’t know how this massive black hole grows up so large and quickly in the early days of the universe. The astronomers are eagerly attempting to find even faster growing black hole.
“We don’t know how this one grew so large, so quickly n the days of the Universe,” stated Dr. Wolf. The investigator further adds, “These large and rapidly-growing black holes are searching for them with Sky Mapper for several months from now.
They came to the conclusion that either black holes an grow at a faster rate than the speed limit, but they weren’t able to found how it works as they have not seen it yet in action, there can be an unknown way to make 5000 solar masses black hole very close in the time to the big bang.
Wolf observed that from their extreme brightness the hole can be used as ce lestial palceholders to advance the study of the formation of many elements during the period of the big bang.
The object seems to be so bright that the scientists can see shadows of other objects in the front of the gigantic black hole. This fast growing super massive black hole will help to clear the fog around it by ionizing gases, which can make the universe more transparent.
With the help of data gathered by Sky Mapper telescope at Siding Spring Observatory, astronomers have discovered what is convincing to be the fastest- growing black hole ever found in our universe.
