ISRO Launched 104 Satellite Successfully! Set A New World Record

ISRO just launched PSLV-C37 successfully, carrying 104 satellites on the go from its launch site Satish Dhawan Space center at Shriharikota, India. ISRO is now holding the world recored of sending maximum satellites on the go. Before this launch the Russian Space Agency was holding the record with 37 satellites.

ISRO, the only space agency, is able to send space satellites using much much less cost than other space agencies all over the world.

Full time-table of mission (from start to end) ~

All the times below are to be considered in IST (Indian Standard Time)
  • 9:28 am: PSLV takes off at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
  • 9:30 am: Scientists confirm first stage of lift off completed.
  • 9:31 am: Heat shields separated from the PSLV, second stage going through smoothly.
  • 9:32 am: Scientists at ISRO says launch going as per plan so far.
  • 9:33 am: Second stage of launch completed successfully; third stage begins.
  • 9:36 am: Eight minutes since lift off; PSLV-C37/Cartosat2 Series satellite in fourth stage. Satellite engines switched on.
  • 9:39 am: Satellite continues to gain altitude; performance so far normal, indicating a successful launch.
  • 9:41 am: PSLV has crossed about 4180 km since it launched.
  • 9:44 am: ISRO chairman AS Kiran Kumar among those at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota watching the record satellite launch.
  • 9:46 am: Engines switched off; PSLV reaches orbit.
  • 9:47 am: Cartosat 2 and India’s nano satellites separated from launch vehicle.
  • 9:48 am: Remaining nano satellites being separated from launch vehicle in pairs.
  • 9:50 am: Plus 22 minutes since lift off; launch normal so far.
  • 9:57 am: Close to half an hour since lift off; flight status normal.
  • 10.00 am: All 104 satellites successfully launched; India makes history.
  • 10:01 am: ISRO chariman AS Kiran Kumar announces success.
  • 10:02 am: Our team came up with a unique separation system, says Kumar.
  • 10:04 am: ISRO chairman AS Kiran Kumar says Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his congratulations.
  • 10:05 am: Countdown time was the shortest launch time for PSLV missions. This was the most complicated space mission, says ISRO.
    • 10:25 am: Satellite director Sadananda Rao said solar panels of the Cartosat-2 satellite were deployed, and the command centre in Bengaluru has taken control of it.

    Before a decade ago, ISRO was dependent on other country’s space agencies for sending their own satellites, Now the proud moment has been achieved that ISRO is sending other country’s satellites with their PSLVs. This is a really great moment. We always have the finest mathematicians in India, our perfect calculation leads us towards the achievements like this. Our missions can’t be failed.  We’re very much proud to be an Indian! Yes! we’re THE INDIAN. Make in India initiative has just began!
